Objective / Purpose of the Department
The objective of the department is to grow the revenue, profitability and trading base across all sales channels through:
• The acquisition of new customers.
• Development of existing customers.
• Improvement of revenue quality.
• Air Freight operation/Customer service
The above will be a result of:
• Selling the full range of X products and solutions.
• Ensuring customers are charged the correct price for the service provided.
• Through a dedicated sales channel structure.
Objective / Purpose of the Job
The Freight Team Leader is required to maintain and grow X market leadership position by developing freight Business in line with the divisional policy and ensuring that revenue, margin and budget targets are achieved.

Employees managed: Present
Budget authority: By local agreement with the National Sales Manager - set for pricing
(Customers and suppliers) and margins.
Capital expenditure authority: None.
Authority for procedural recommendations.
Key Activities / Accountabilities
Assists in developing and implementing the business plan for the Freight product that ensures a growth strategy
to meet the annual budget objectives.
Supports the sales team, by providing freight solutions that will enable them to secure sound business
Opportunities and profitable business.
Manages the freight team to capture and manage off net opportunities.
Monitors freight performance, loyalty and satisfaction to measure success, business fluctuation and possible business at risk. Take appropriate corrective action internally and external to address service issues.
Ensures that X is competitive in its market offerings. Optimise and re-evaluate supplier performance as directed by the Country Sales and Marketing Manager.
Liaises with X clearance department and personnel to maintain positive relationships and improve service to the customer.
Initiates services which link our freight capability to the rest of X Air or Road Network.
Liaises with X clearance department to maintain positive relationships & to improve service to the customer.
Develops product visibility for X personnel and customers.
Promotes X to existing and prospective customers and at all times reflect and promote X in the best possible light.
As security is a vital and integral part of our business assist in ensure that our freight products and personnel are compliant to IATA standards and X security policies and procedures.
Generates and provides (on regular basis) detailed reports to demonstrate all the above.
Complies with the company\\\'s corporate social responsibility, health, safety and environmental standards and responsibilities as identified within X Express management systems and directly support line management in effectively implementing these management systems.
Adverse Working Conditions
Regular working hours, five (5) business days a week.
Essential Educational and / or Training Qualifications & Certificates
University degree in any discipline.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
3 to 5 years of experience.
International express or freight industry background.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and KPI’s.
Organisational awareness (structure and products and services).
Extensive product knowledge.
Strong market sector knowledge / awareness.
Proven people management skills.
